Scotland

So I got back from a trip to Scotland a few weeks ago and finally found time to edit a video of the trip. We had a sick time and Scotland is a freakin awesome place! Check out the waves we scored, go leave a comment at videosurfguide.com and vote in the poll to let us know where you think we should go next. Hope you dig the video!

The New Guy

So I'm the new guy around here. I can still remember my first day at a new school when I was 8 years old. They were changing to a new uniform in the second term so the Headmaster told my mother to buy the new one from the outset instead of wasting cash buying the old one and the new one. So she did. And I rocked up on my first day wearing a different uniform than every other kid in the whole school! Awesome! That day was not in my top 1000 and it kinda made me not like being the new guy. But, here I am doing it all over again. But for the record, I don't feel like an outcast this time and I'm not wearing a school uniform while I write this. I'll be writing some guest posts here on Stay Inverted from time to time so I should probably introduce myself. My name is Shane Rielly and I'm from East London, on the south coast of South Africa for those of you who don't line in SA. I started bodyboarding when I was 12 and have loved it ever since. I've never had a sponsor, I surfed for my province at SA's 9 or 10 times and never got better than 16th and I don't particularly care. I've surfed insane waves and have awesome mates and know some mental spots around the East London area. Right now my girl and I are living in London in the UK. If you're wondering why - that's a very good question, but just because it's a good question doesn't mean it has an answer. Tomorrow we are going to Thurso in Scotland and hoping to score some mad waves. I just recently started a blog called Video Surf Guide where the posts will hopefully mainly be video - so I guess it's a video blog or vlog if you're into that word (I'm not!). It's worth a look I reckon and I'm actually typing this while I should be editing the first 3 videos for VSG so when I'm done there should be some new vids up soon! Check out some shots of my home town below and I'll catch you next time!

Video Surf Guide

After a long wait my new friend has finally delivered on what is promised to be out of this world.Something I can't wait to see. Shane Rielly recently got his blog online.... Video Surf Guide he will be doing foto and video posts on his travels around the world with Thurso,Scotland first in the line-up.Something I for obvious reasons can't wait to see.Go check out shane's site and show your support.I'm also working on getting Shane onboard stayinverted for a very valuable attribute(more on that after the weekend) For another well spoken intelligent fotographer check this blog... Nomadic Vision I really enjoyed his theory on how videographers and fotographers should rather join as a team rather than doing both diciplines yourself. It's like a conflict of interest when a fotographer does a videographers job.Rather leave each man for his job.The job he was born to do.This very true statement from Nomadic Vision can certainly build a few bridges and make you some friends. I will certainly team up with these guys in future.

fire in the sky

This was a beautiful sunset picture taken on our last trip up the west coast of South Africa,Every time we travel I just realise how much unspoilt beauty South Africa has to offer. We definitely live in one of the greatest countries in the world.Nature brings us all closer to tranquil beginnings. There is no better healing power than nature. Images like this feeds the soul,it makes you dream,it takes you away from reality even just for those few seconds,a picture can tell a thousand words.
